Stunning, individually made and perfectly polished! Brightly coloured deep almost black red to orange to peach Carnelian with gorgeous patterns. Some with vugs (“caves”). From Madagascar. Very Good to A Grade. Size medium-large. First, choose your weight, then your gallet.

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Carnelian is a variety of the silica mineral Chalcedony. It ranges in colour from brown, orange, amber-red to red. Which is from the inclusion of iron oxide in the Chacedony. In addition, it’s generally translucent. When there are banded patterns in the material, it can be classified both Carnelian and Agate.

Carnelian shows up in history as far back as early Neolithic times. It is named from the Medieval Latin ‘cornum’, referring to the Cornel cherry, whose translucent red fruits resemble the stone.
