Tree Agate is a Dendritic Agate. It also goes by the trade name ‘Merlinite’. These Tree Agate tumbled stones are white with beautiful intricate green dendritic patterns. Good to A Grade. Choose your size below.

 

Geological:

Tree Agate is actually a form of dendritic Chalcedony, although it’s labelled as an Agate. It is different to Moss Agate in that Moss Agate is usually in a predominantly translucent matrix, whilst Tree Agate’s matrix is opaque (solid). Often misinterpreted as plant fossils, the dendrites form when water rich in Manganese and Iron flow along tiny cracks between layers and cracks within the crystal matrix. The Manganese Oxide then crystallizes in this multi-branching tree or moss-like pattern.
