Description

Charoite Tumbled Stone (RARE). Various shades of light purple to beige hues with white (Feldspar) and black (Aegirine-Augite) markings. Orange inclusions are Tinaksite. Charoite is extremely rare, only occurring in Siberia, Russia. Medium to Good Grade.

 

Geological:

Charoite is an extremely rare silicate mineral occurring only in one area of Siberia named the Aldan Shield. Its characteristic swirling pattern is due to the complex interlocking patterns the fibrous Charoite crystals form in. It occurs with prismatic orange Tinaksite crystals, pale microcline Feldspar and Aegirine-Augite crystals.

The Gemological Association says that it is “the rarest and most exotic gemstone on earth”! Charoite was discovered in the 1940’s during the construction of a railway tunnel. It was such an unusual find, considering its rarity, composition and stunning colour, that it was not accepted as genuine by the mineralogical world until 1978!
