It’s September and Spring is in the air! We’ll be celebrating the Spring equinox, Ostara on 21 September. If you subscribe to our weekly newsletters, we’ll be sharing more info on Ostara this month 🙂

It’s been quite a week of intense energies for many of us, it seems! I hope that you’re able to take some time off this weekend to relax and recharge your batteries. Remember, you cannot look after anyone if you don’t look after yourself first. Being responsible, reliable and caring starts with yourself <3

What does your self care look like? What can you do for yourself this weekend that’ll refill your cup?

“Spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer.”
– Anita Krizzan

Crystal Focus: Tourmaline

This month’s feature is about one of my favourite stones, Tourmaline. I have quite a collection of black Tourmaline personally, I am always drawn to it! Tourmaline is one of the crystals I recommend as an absolute staple in anyone’s crystal collection.

While black Tourmaline is the go-to, it also occurs in a wide range of beautiful colours. We’ve recently begun to stock really pretty pink Tourmaline (called Rubellite), and we always have the multicolour tumbleds in stock. Owing to the rarity of multicolour Tourmaline these are only available as XS.

The wide range of compositions & zoning within Tourmaline crystals causes it to occur in more colours & colour combinations than ANY other mineral group!

Black Tourmaline is a workhorse for your energy field, and one of my top 10 must-have crystals.
– Hibiscus Moon

“Ancient magicians relied upon Black Tourmaline, known as Schorl, to protect them from earth demons as they cast their spells. Today this stone is still revered as a premier talisman of protection, a psychic shield deflecting and dispelling negative energies, entities, or destructive forces. It guards against radiation and environmental pollutants, and is highly useful in purifying and neutralizing one’s own negative thoughts and internal conflicts, and turning them into positive, usable energy.” – Crystal Vault

Here in the Southern Hemisphere, we are now in the month of the Milk Moon, and Imbolc (the Spring Equinox) is approaching.

In the Milk (or Nursing) Moon can we see in nature around us the first faint signs that Mother Earth’s ability to nurture us will return as the Sun strengthens. Tiny green promises of winter herbs and flowers begin to peek out. Buds on trees begin to swell, and birds couple up and build nests, singing their mating calls into the warmer days. Spring lambs are born, as new life springs up around us.

The traditional festival of Imbolc, the beginning of Spring, happens now in the Milk Moon. Imbolc (pronounced IM-bolg or IM-bolk) is Old Irish for “in the belly.” It is the festival of renewal and purification for the coming revival of life. Imbolc is a time of magical energy related to the feminine aspect of the goddess, of new beginnings, and of fire.

We’ll be sharing blog posts with some of Imbolc’s traditional history and some fun activities you can do to get into the spirit of this special season throughout the month!
