Mookaite Tumbled L - XL

(2 customer reviews)

The name Mookaite comes from the only area where this beautiful stone forms – Mooka creek in Western Australia. According to locals, Mooka is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘running water’. Here, porcelanite has become silicified, forming in the weathered profile of a geological formation known as the Windalia Radiolartite, a lower cretaceous sedimentary section over much of the Carnarvon Basin. Mookaite is actually a fossiliferous sedimentary rock and is best defined as a type of Radiolarite which has become silicified in an opaline to chalcedonic manner. It occurs in mixed swirls and streaks of colours ranging from white, cream, brown, grey, yellow, orange-red, purple-red, yellow to a mauve.

This tumbled Mookaite is a mixture of colours, each piece is unique.
