VARIETIES

Under varieties, I’ve chosen to include colours as well as collectable localities or other particular trade name specimens of note. This makes it easier for you to see what we stock and what occurs should you want to add to your collection. As a result, many of these are not, strictly speaking, varieties by geological standards. If you’re interested in learning the geological varieties of a species or indeed want to expand your knowledge of any mineral from a geological perspective, I highly recommend visiting Mindat.org. It is a treasure chest of information. 

AVAILABILITY

Secondly, we don’t always carry stock of every item listed. This is especially true of the rarer species and varieties. But if it’s on the list, it means we do get it in whenever we can. Rarer specimens often get snapped up on the day they are listed 🙂 To get ‘first dibs’, join our mailing list or whatsapp group to find out as soon as new stock arrives (see form on bottom of page).

MUSEUM

You’ll see a ‘Museum’ list opposite the shop list. This is The Mystic Cat’s legacy project. Our vision is to build a visual A-Z encyclopedia of minerals for people to visit, view and learn from.
