TREE OF LIFE
The Tree of Life is a symbol appearing across many mythologies and philosophies. Two important appearances include the Norse religion and Buddhism.
- In the Norse religion, the tree of life is Yggdrasil, the world tree. The world tree is deeply symbolic. It represents the interconnectedness of everything. Its associations include strength, growth, ancestral connection, fertility and connection to Divinity. It is considered both sacred and magical.
- In Buddhism, the Tree of Life is the Bodhi or Bo Tree. It represents the sacred fig tree that Buddha sat under when he reached Enlightenment. It symbolises the path to Enlightenment and existence.
