GEOLOGICAL:

Obsidian is a type of natural volcanic glass. It forms when molten rock material from a volcanic eruption cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. Pure obsidian is usually dark, with colour variances due to different minerals present, usually an iron oxide such as magnetite.

Snowflake Obsidian is formed by the inclusion of tiny needle-like crystal rods of the mineral Cristobalite clustered together, forming the characteristic snowflake-like patterning.
