Description
Mookaite Tumbled Stone.
A range of beautiful earthy colours and hues, reds, yellows, browns and some pastel pink and purples. Each one is different. From Australia. Very Good to A Grade.
Geological:
Although often labelled a Jasper, Mookaite is actually a fossiliferous sedimentary rock. It’s best defined as a type of Radiolarite which has become silicified in an opaline to chalcedonic manner. It occurs in mixed swirls and streaks of colours ranging from white, cream, brown, grey, yellow, orange-red, purple-red, yellow to a mauve.
Mookaite is named after the only area in the world where this beautiful stone forms – Mooka creek in Western Australia. Here, porcelanite has become silicified, forming in the weathered profile of a geological formation known as the Windalia Radiolartite.
