Dalmatian Stone Tumbled Stone. Natural off-white to cream beige matrix with characteristic small black spots of Arfvedsonite. Also known as Dalmatian Jasper. From Chihuahua, Mexico. Good to A Grade.
Geological:
Dalmatian Stone is often labelled as a Jasper. However it has been correctly identified as a type of peralkaline rock (microgranite, aplite, or rhyolite). It consists predominantly of Feldspar, Plagioclase & Quartz, with lesser amounts of Hematite and Epidote. The characteristic black spots are a mineral called Arfvedsonite.
Dalmatian Stone is named for its spotted coat like the dog, and comes from a state dedicated to another dog breed – the Mexican state of Chihuahua!
