Anhydrite Purple Angelite Polished Freeform 6.5cm (RARE). Stunning, incredibly rare purple Anhydrite in association with peach Anhydrite and green Chrome Diopside. Anhydrite is also known as Angelite. Variable shimmering purple colour intensity, some gemmy areas. A material that very seldom comes up, beautiful and highly collectible. Polished freeform with cut base for standing.

From Madagascar. Good to A Grade. Size approx 6.5cm. Weight approx 104g.

GEOLOGICAL

Anhydrite is a beautiful stone which is highly sought after and incredibly rare. The blue variant was discovered in Peru in 1987. Malagasy Anhydrite has variable purple colour intensity and often found in association with peach Anhydrite and or Chrome Diopside.

Anhydrite’s name is derived from the Greek ‘an’ (without) and ‘hydor’ (water), as it’s a dehydrated form of Gypsum. It occurs as clear, blue, purple or grey long bladed or short crystals in matrix.
