Polished Rare Amazonite Gallet / Palm Stone.
These lovely Amazonite crystals vary in colour from very light jade-green to turquoise and sometimes include brown staining. Each gallet is chosen from selected material and hand-polished into its shape. From Madagascar. Very Good to A Grade. Choose your weight, then your gallet.
CHOOSING YOUR GALLET:
- Small gallets (weight groups 10-20g, 20-40g and 40-60g) are not sold individually. We will choose for you, from the available stock. If you want to choose a specific gallet, then please select from the larger weight groups as explained below.
- Medium to large gallets (weight groups 60-80g up to 180-200g) are sold individually. First, select the weight group, then choose your individual gallet by selecting a letter (i.e. A, B, C etc). The image will change to show you that gallet. Once you have the weight category and gallet letter you want, click “Add To Cart”. If a letter is unavailable (e.g. if B is not in the drop-down list to select), it has already sold.
- Large to extra large gallets (with weights 200g+) are sold as individual free forms in the Gallets & Freeforms shop category.
GEOLOGICAL:
Amazonite varies in colour from very light jade-green to turquoise, usually with white mottling, and sometimes with some brown staining. This tectosilicate mineral usually derives its colour from the inclusion of lead. Sometimes a pearlescent shimmer is visible on the surface of the stone. Amazonite is part of the Feldspar group, usually microcline, else orthoclase.
Also known as Amazon Jade or Amazon Stone, it was named after the Amazon river. Cultures in Northern Africa, Mesopotamia, and the Indus Valley had begun cutting Amazonites as early as 5,200 BCE.
