This ‘Fugere’ Dendritic Agate polished crystal heart is from highly sought after material. It has a high visibility of fern-like dendritic inclusions set in translucent Chalcedony matrix. Very rare and very beautiful. From Madagascar. Very Good to A Grade. Size approx 5cm. Weight approx 66g.

 

The name “Fugere” is a trade name given to material from this particular deposit in Madagascar. It’s derived from the Old French word “fougere,” meaning “fern,” describing the beautiful patterns.

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Dendritic Agate is a translucent Chalcedony with green or brown inclusions (less commonly yellow, red or black) called ‘dendrites’. Often misinterpreted as plant fossil, the dendrites actually form when water rich in variously Manganese, Chrome and/or Iron, flow along tiny cracks between layers and within the crystal matrix. The oxide then crystallizes in this organic, multi-branching tree or moss like pattern.
