GEOLOGICAL:

Tourmaline is the name for a group of crystalline boron silicate minerals. This mineral species was identified by mineralogists in the 1800s. Its name comes from mid 18th century French, based on Sinhalese “tōramalli”. Tourmaline becomes electrically charged when heated (pyroelectric). It is also piezoelectric (creates electricity under pressure).

Tourmaline can be found occurring in more colours and colour combinations than any other gemstone in the world! Tourmaline’s colours have many different causes.
