GEOLOGICAL:

Tourmaline is the name for a group of crystalline boron silicate minerals. It was first identified by mineralogists in the 1800s. It’s name comes from mid 18th century French, based on Sinhalese “tōramalli”. Tourmaline has some really cool features! For example, it becomes electrically charged when heated (pyroelectric). Additionally, it’s piezoelectric (creates electricity under pressure).
