Very pretty pink granular to crystalline Ephesite cluster. Lovely rare mineral! From Postmasburg, South Africa. Good to Very Good Grade. Size approx 3cm.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Ephesite is a rare phyllosilicate mineral and part of the Mica family. Highly prized specimens have a pearly lustre to their tabular-formation crystals, and beautiful pink-to-red hue, while the mineral can also be found with brown, grey and green sections.

Ephesite is named for the place of its discovery, the ancient city of Ephesus in Turkey. It is found in only two places in the world, Ephesus, and Postmasburg in South Africa.
