Malachite Natural Rough Piece. These rough pieces have layers of different shades of green. Some matrix present. Some chunks have areas of botryoidal formations. Medium to Good Grade.
GEOLOGICAL:
Malachite is a green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. It was one of the first ores used to produce copper metal, and was cited as early as 79CE by Pliny the Elder, who referred to the mineral as ‘Molochitus’. In 1661 the spelling was revised to ‘Malachite’ as it is known today.
