Blue Calcite Natural Rough Piece.

These rough pieces are a lovely light grey-blue colour with some white and very occasionally brown and/or grey staining. In its natural raw state, Blue Calcite has a smooth surface, often with squared edges due to its cleavage. Calcite feels ‘waxy’ to the touch. Good to A Grade.

GEOLOGICAL:

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. Calcite is colourless or white when pure but may be of almost any colour – red, pink, yellow, orange, green, blue, lavender, black, or brown – owing to the presence of various different impurities. Calcite is best recognized by its relatively low Mohs hardness (3) and its high reactivity with even weak acids, such as vinegar.
