Lovely pink crystalline Salrose drusy cluster on matrix specimen. Specimens may have minor inclusions of Malachite (green), Heterogenite (black) or other copper-based minerals, with a few instances of pretty Manganese Oxide dendritic patterning on the matrix. A classic collectable. Salrose is graded for colour intensity, the extent of crystalline exposure and the size of individual crystals.

While Salrose is often labelled Pink Calcite or Cobalt/Cobaltoan Calcite, it’s actually pink Dolomite! The correct term is Cobaltoan Dolomite.
Dolomite is an anhydrous (waterless) carbonate mineral, composed of calcium magnesium carbonate.
Cobaltoan Dolomite, also known as Salrose, is a rare variant of Dolomite containing Cobalt. It is only found in 5 countries in the world. It gets its vivid pink shades from cobalt ions replacing magnesium and/or calcium within the crystal lattice.
