Description
Azurite Semi Crystalline Rough Piece. Lovely batch of natural rough pieces with variable amounts of Azurite either in rivulet veins across the host matrix or covering large areas. Minor Malachite in association. Semi-crystalline areas on some, while other pieces have rare crystalline formations visible as tiny sparkling drusy clusters within layers.

GEOLOGICAL
Azurite is a deep āazureā blue copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. Thought to be first discovered in early ancient Egypt, during the early 19th century, it became known as chessylite, after the type locality at Chessy-les-Mines near Lyon, France. It is not a common mineral, especially since it is relatively soft, and heat sensitive (donāt charge yours in the sun!).
Azurite is usually massive or nodular. In rare situations, Azurite is found as stalactitic and botryoidal growths. Well-formed monoclinic crystals are most rare. These most prized crystalline specimens usually originate in Namibia or Morocco.
