Lovely sized chonky Brandberg Quartz point with Amethyst wisps. Good to cloudy translucency. Excellent condition. From Brandberg, Namibia. Very Good to A Grade. Size approx 5.5cm. Weight approx 49g.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Brandberg is perhaps one the most collectible localities for Quartz in the world. These specimens tend to have exceptionally clarity, often with Amethyst and/or Smoky wisps and colour zones, also often with enhydros or skeletal features.

The clusters occur in basalt vugs associated to volcanic activity. They are mined on a small scale, by multiple individuals, across a very wide geographic area.

The range includes Gebobos, where Brandberg crystals are actually from, located in the northwestern Namib Desert. Since Brandberg mountain itself is a protected national park.
