Fossil Goniatite Polished Bowl

Stunning polished bowl featuring ancient fossilized sea bed and a fossil Goniatite. You could use this as a display dish for other fossils or crystals, as a smudge bowl for your smudge sticks or palo santo, as a jewellery bowl or as an offering bowl.  From Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Good to A Grade. Size approx 10-13cm.

 

 

GEOLOGICAL

A Goniatite is an ammonoid cephalopod from the primitive Agoniatitida that existed during the Middle Devonian some 390 million years ago. It is the ancestor of the better-known Ammonite. Goniatites had a shell, which would be divided internally into chambers and filled with gas for buoyancy. An open chamber at the front of the shell provided the Goniatite’s living space.

While we might picture these free-swimming sea creatures like water snails, they had a head with two well-developed eyes and…arms!
