Kintsugi Meaning:
Kintsugi is both a Japanese art form and a philosophy. As an art form, it is the ‘art of repair’. Broken or chipped pottery is repaired using gold. It highlights the damage rather than trying to hide it. The philosophy is that the history of something should be honoured, not concealed.
In much the same way, humans should embrace our flaws and imperfections as part of what makes us beautiful and unique.
To quote Leonard Cohen, “There is a crack, a crack in everything. It’s how the light gets in.”
The Wood:
On the Mystic Cat farmstead mountain grows the Sacred Wand bush. These magical plants occasionally push a root to the surface of the soil, where it detaches itself and awaits collection. We make all wands in this range from these collected pieces of roots. We never sever them ourselves, rather waiting for them to be offered.
Each root is unique and speaks to the wand crafter as to how it wants to be shaped. Roots are superconductors and grounders. Thus making these wands incredibly powerful. And imbued with the magic of the Quartzite mountain they grew from! Handcrafted with loving energetic intention at the Mystic Cat farmstead.
